Skip-a-Rope-and-a-Clamp

A Paul Bunyan tale for my buddy Skip. As far as I know, he's never been to Missouri.  He is however, a helluva good guy...a gonzo climber...an ace carpenter...and since he is a one man crew, he's also beyond handy with clamps.

When they built that arch in old Missouri

The survey crew got in a hurry

Or else the blueprints were all blurry

Anyway something weren’t right

They had two steel legs shooting in the sky

They were hoping to join them by and by

When they didn’t line up...me oh my

The governor was pulling his hair

The town folk they were taking it hard

Till they saw some dude climbing up one spar

One yelled look here he left his card

Skip a rope and a clamp construction

That must be Skip and a rope

That arch was never gonna meet in space

Both sides clearly out of place

Could St. Louis still save face

By guess, by God or the grace

Of Skip a rope and a clamp construction

Skip a rope and a clamp

     He’s a one man crew

     He’s a good guy too

He’s three in one, ol’ Skipperoo

There ain’t too much he can’t do

If he’s got him a rope and a clamp

First Skip made a big lassou

Tossed it a across...and pulled her to

Slapped on a clamp

Bolted it through

Swung to the ground

Said, I hope that’ll do

Should’ve seen the party Missouri threw for...

Skip a rope and a clamp construction

Skip a rope and a clamp

After the Gateway To The West

The Golden Gate called, said we’ve got a mess

Skip can you come, he said, I guess

He left with a rope and a clamp

     He’s a one man crew...

When you hit the wall

And there’s a big obstruction

You’ve tried it all But you just can’t function

Listen y’all...To my instruction

Get Skip a rope and a clamp construction

Skip a rope...When you lose your gumption

Skip a rope and a clamp...He’s something

Skip a rope and a clamp

Get Skip a rope and a clamp

Call Skip a rope and a clamp
